Stormwater Management
Stormwater originates from rainfall and other precipitation that runs off of surfaces all over the Borough - rooftops, streets, lawns, etc. Stormwater makes its way into natural water sources and takes everything from Borough surfaces with it to these areas. If you witness an illicit discharge or would like to file a water quality complaint, please contact 610-857-2616 or admin@parkesburg.org. For more information regarding illicit discharges please see the document on this page titled “Illicit Discharges”. Car WashingWhen you wash your car on a compacted surface, the runoff containing soap, heavy metals, road grime, greases, and oils can enter the storm drains. Unlike sanitary drains, storm drains usually run directly into creeks, ponds, and lakes. Use a commercial car wash facility or find a grassy area at home to soak up the runoff. Protect our area’s natural water resources! Stormwater Projects In 2009 the Borough received a $1 million grant from Chester County to improve the stormwater infrastructure to better serve the residents of the Borough. Maintenance Proper maintenance is crucial to keep the Borough’s stormwater drainage facilities functioning.
